LAHORE: Robbers killed a 55-year-old man and shot at and injured his son and grandson on offering resistance during a robbery bid in the Kahna police jurisdiction here on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Rasheed while the injured as Zahid (son) and Ali (grandson), residents of Audit and Accounts Housing Scheme, Soay Aasil, Kahna. Police said the deceased was sleeping when four robbers broke into the house by climbing the wall. They made the inmates hostage on gunpoint and demanded cash, gold ornaments and other valuables.

The deceased refused to do that and offered resistance over which one of the robbers opened indiscriminate fire on the inmates.

As a result, Abdul Rasheed, his son Zahid and grandson Ali sustained serious injuries.

Abdul Rasheed died on the spot due to excessive bleeding while the injured were rushed to hospital where their condition was stated to be stable. After hearing the bullet shots, neighbours gathered outside the house while the robbers managed to escape by taking advantage of darkness.

Kahna police, after being informed, reached the spot and removed the body of the deceased to morgue for autopsy. They registered an FIR against four unidentified dacoits on the complaint of deceased’s son, Shahid, but failed to make any arrest so far.
