Sukkur: Woman kidnaps baby after drugging family
SUKKUR, Dec 19: A woman took away an eight-month-old baby boy after drugging the family in Allah Bux Brohi village near Thull town in Jacobabad district on Monday.
According to villagers, the alleged kidnapper Sahiba Khatoon, who used to visit the village every third or fourth month and was on friendly terms with almost all families went to shopkeeper Ghulam Rasool Brohi`s house on Monday morning and offered to make them tea. She mixed some intoxicating drug in the tea so that when the family took it they all fell unconscious and she took away the baby, Rizwan Ahmed, in a car, said the villagers.
The family rushed to the area`s police station after they came to their senses but it was already too late and the police just recorded the crime as non-cognisable offence.
The baby`s uncle Abdul hameed Brohi said that Sahiba Khatoon was respected by all villagers and allowed to visit their houses because she had declared herself to be of Syed family.
He said they had known her for about four years. She lived in a village near Shikarpur and used to visit their village every third or fourth month and also occasionally worked as farm labour.
He said they had sent some people to her village to locate her and seek others` help in getting back the baby.
Thull DSP Noor Mohammad Soharyani told journalists the kidnapper was member of an inter-provincial gang, and claimed police were conducting raids to arrest her and recover the baby.
