Islamabad: NH&MP recover 4 stolen cars
ISLAMABAD: The National Highways & Motorway Police (NH&MP) have recovered four stolen cars and arrested two car-lifters.
The NH&MP received information from Islamabad Police that a blue Honda City car (LZK-763) has been stolen from the jurisdiction of Ramna Police Station. Upon receiving information, the NH&MP alerted all its patrolling vehicles. After a few minutes, the NH&MP officers SPO Shamsullah and SPO Ali Aamir saw the car at the Haro Bridge, Hassanabdal, on National Highway (N-5). They signalled the driver to stop, but he tried to escape. However the next patrolling vehicle of NH&MP officers, PO Sardar Farooq and PO Muhammad Ashfaq, succeeded in stopping the car and arrested Shahid Zaman, son of Khan Zaman, belonging to Mardan.
In second incident, NH&MP officers SPO Gul Nawaz and PO Shahid Nawaz were on their routine duty on Motorway (M-2) in Chakri. They saw a silver Honda Civic car (LXD-2171, Model 1997) which was overspeeding. The officers signalled the driver to stop but he tried to speed away. The officers chased the car and succeeded in stopping it through commando action. Bilal Hussain, son of Ghulam Sarwar, hailing from Swabi, was arrested. On search of the car, a bank statement in the name of Sagheer Ahmed was found. When Sagheer Ahmed was contacted, he informed that his car was stolen from Lahore and its FIR has been lodged with the Gulberg Police Station, Lahore.
In third incident, the Rawalpindi Police informed the NH&MP that a golden Corolla XLI car (SB-473) has been stolen from the jurisdiction of Airport Police Station, Rawalpindi. The tracker system was installed in the car, which showed that it was moving on the Motorway (M-1). On this information, the MH&MP alerted all its patrolling officers. After a few minutes, SPO Ejaz Munir and PO Manzoor Kiyani saw the car parked on hardshoulder in Lakhori on M-1.
In fourth incident, SPO Shafqat Ali and PO Zahoor Hussain were on their routine duty on Motorway (M-2) in Sokheki. The NH&MP officers saw a silver Toyota Corolla car (LEC-2377), which was parked on the hardshoulder and no one was present there. The car was stolen from Hafizabad. The NH&MP officers impounded the car and informed the owner of the car.
