Karachi: 6 suspected robbers suspected in raids
KARACHI: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Friday claimed to have arrested six men allegedly involved in bank robberies and a kidnapping for ransom.
The police also claimed that they recovered three Kalashnikovs, four hand grenades, one 7MM rifle, one TT pistol and over 50 bullets from them. SSP CID Fayyaz Khan told The News that acting on a tip-off they raided three hideouts in Korangi No 2, Metroville SITE and Sohrab Goth, and arrested six suspects.
Those arrested were identified as Ghulam Nabi, alias Ali, Muhammad Saleem alias Sani, Abdul Kabeer, Moeed Akbar, Abdullah alias Khan and Abdul Kareem. During the initial interrogation, they disclosed that they looted the UBL’s Gizri Branch. They also confessed to kidnapping a businessman from the Korangi Industrial Area and releasing him after receiving Rs5 million in ransom. They also admitted that they looted several banks in Punjab.
