Taxila: PO killed in police encounter
TAXILA: A proclaimed offender (PO) wanted in a number of murder and abduction cases was shot dead in an encounter with police in village Buddo in the limits of Wah Cantonment police station on Saturday evening.
Naveed Ahmed, a resident of Abbottabad, who was a hired assassin, was wanted in a number of murder, attempted murder and abduction cases. On information that he was hiding in the house of an accomplice, a police party led by DSP Taxila circle Raja Taifoor Akhter raided the house. On seeing the police party, he opened fire which the police party retaliated.
During shootout, he received bullet injury and died on the spot. A woman was also injured in the cross fire.
Later, the dead and injured were taken to THQ hospital. Talking to newsmen here on Sunday, DSP Raja Taifoor Akhter said that the accused, a ring leader of inter-district gang of hired assassins, wanted in a number of cases.
