Karachi: Seminary caretaker killed in Banaras
KARACHI: The caretaker of a seminary was shot dead in Banaras Colony early Monday morning, police said.
They added that two armed men riding a motorbike fired multiple shots at the caretaker of Ziaul Uloom Madressah, Khalid Iqbal, as he came out of Muhammadi Mosque after Fajr. The attackers fled following the incident.
The victim was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he was pronounced dead on arrival, said a duty officer of the Pirabad police station.
The police quoted his family as saying that Iqbal hailed from Swat where people within the extended family had been killed.
However, the Pirabad SHO said that the possibility of sectarian motive could not be ruled out.
An FIR of the killing had not been lodged till filing of this report on Monday night.
