Karachi: Culprit involved in murder of JUI leader’s son nabbed

KARACHI: Police have disclosed the arrest of a culprit allegedly involved in the murder of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader’s son who was killed after being abducted from Shah Faisal Colony Wednesday last.

A clash erupted when a 25th Muharram procession of Hussainian Mission Imambargah reached Jamia Farooqia, resulting in the death of JUI leader Maulana Qamaruddin’s son and injuries to five others. JUI leader’s son Hafiz Ahmed Qamar was tortured to death after being kidnapped during the clash. He was doing a four-year course of Aalim (Islamic cleric) from Jamia Farooqia and hailed from Khuzdar. Shah Faisal police had registered an FIR (445/11) under sections 147, 148, 149, 292, 324 and 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) on behalf of one, Yasir.



Over one dozen suspects, including the arrested one from JUI’s rival religious groups, were nominated in the case. The suspects nominated in the FIR included Shahrukh, Shehzad, Agha Munir, Hammad, Khurram, Naseeb, Tanvir, Zeeshan, Agha Asghar, Hassan alias Compound, Sajjad alias Tunda, Imran, Abu Hashim and others.

According to SHO Khalid Nadeem Baig, the police have arrested one of the nominated accused Ali Raza alias Ali Langra who sustained bullet injuries during the same clash and was taken into custody while being treated at a private hospital of Soldier Bazaar. He said that the arrested suspect was out on bail and had earlier been arrested in a murder case. “Raids for the arrest of more suspects involved in the incident are being conducted”, SHO Baig added.
