Lahore: Man killed by rival sect people
Lahore: A 40-year-old man was gunned down by the members of his opponent sect in the Ghalib Market area on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Muhammad Shakeel Ahmad of Haidari Mohalla Gurumangat. Reportedly, Shakeel asked the members of the opponent sect to perform their religious activity within their boundary a week back, upon which, one Mahmood alias Mooda Shah and his accomplices quarreled with him.
However, the matter was resolved by the elders of the area. On the day of the incident, Shakeel was sitting in his shop when two masked motorbike riders came there and shot him dead. A passerby, Muhammad Shahid, also suffered wounds in the same incident. Later, people staged a protest demonstration against the opponent sect, blocked the road, smashed the windowpanes of shops, damaged two cars and set a rickshaw on fire. The protesters continued their protest for six hours.
