Peshawar: Filipino woman, 2 kids recovered in raid
PESHAWAR: The local police raided a house in Gulberg and recovered a foreigner woman and her two minor children on Tuesday, sources said.
The authorities also took the owner of the house Dr Zahid into custody during the action, which was taken on the request of the Philippines authorities.
The sources said that they were informed that a woman from the Philippines, Meri Gracy, along with her three-year-old daughter, Sofia and 10-month-old son had been made hostage in a house near the Khyber Super Market in the jurisdiction of Gulberg Police Station.
Police on Tuesday night raided the house owned by one Dr Zahid and recovered the foreigner woman along with her two minor children. An official said that action was taken after reports that the woman was being kept hostage for the last couple of years. The arrested owner of the house, Dr Zahid, however, said that one Sunny had requested him to take care of Gracy and her children as he had been in Lahore for the last many months. The recovered woman told police that she was made hostage by Dr Zahid who is father of her children and she has been in his house since 2008.
