Islamabad: Rs 3.2 million heist money handed over to bank
ISLAMABAD: Investigation Wing of police handed over Rs 3.2 million to National Bank of Pakistan’s (NBP) Rawat branch, following orders of court after recovering it from the accused who took away the cash in a bank heist.
Addressing a press conference, here on Tuesday, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin Khan also highlighted the performance of CIA staff and told media persons that four gangs involved in crime of heinous nature and minting money after exposing themselves as managing director of various mobile companies on the pretext of giving the people prize money through getting easy load were busted.
According to police, some unidentified persons looted Rs 3.2 million from NBP bank in Rawat after beheading its guard Muhammad Rafique and a case was registered under section 396 PPC on February 13, 2005 in Sihala Police Station.
The case was assigned to Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Islamabad police for speedy investigation and the accused were traced. The accused identified as Raja Tahir, Muhammad Rafique faced trial and were awarded sentence by the court. As per orders of the court, police handed over the recovered money to NBP Rawat branch’s manager.
The SSP Muhammad Yousuf Malik, SP (Rrual) Faisal Bashir Memon, SP (Investigation) Chaudhry Liaquat Ali, ASP Mustansar Feeroz and other police officials were also present on the occasion. The IGP said CIA teams, for their alleged involvement in dacoities, arrested 11 criminals of four gangs and fraudulent activities while cash and other looted items were also recovered from these gangsters. The nabbed criminals of these gangs had been identified as Waseem Abbass, Muhammad Sohail, and Muhammad, Kashif, Muhammad Ismail, Muhammad Shakeel, Muhammad Munir, Syed Asad Hussain Shah, Abdul Qadir, Abdul Aziz, Muhammad Ashraf.
Four cheaters exposing themselves as fake MDs of mobile companies were Abdul Jabber, Abdul Qadir, Abdul Aziz and Asharf.
The twelve alleged car thieves arrested by the teams of ACLC during this month were identified as Faiz Muhammad, Zaze alias Dilawar, Abdullah, Arif, Khalid Khan, Said Wali, Rana Aamir Gulzar, Abdul Qadoos, Waqas Zaheer, Gul Khitab, Yousuf Zeeshan, Abdul Sattar. Fifteen cars have been recovered from there possession.
The IGP told media that CIA staff traced 312 cases successfully in the current year, besides busting 24 gangs and arrested 533 accused. A total of Rs 4.2 million were also recovered from these accused.
