Karachi: 7 involved in street crime nabbed
KARACHI: Frere police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested seven suspects along with weapons and foreign currency from its precincts.
According to SHO Frere Ishaq Lashari, the raids were conducted on a tip-off that notified of a gang involved in street crimes hiding in several areas of the locality.
Reacting on the said information, several raids were conducted that led to the arrest of seven suspects involved in numerous acts of street crime.
He said the detained persons included Nazir, Nadeem, Arif, Qasim, Abid, Hidayatullah and Nadir, adding that six TT pistols, one Kalashnikov and $300 were also recovered from their possession.
Moreover, he said the accused Abid and Hidayatullah were involved in snatching $18,000 from an employee of a money exchange on Dec 20 within Boat Basin limits whereas the other culprits were nominated in several acts of street crime. Cases were registered against the accused while further investigation was underway.
