14 killed over property dispute in Gujranwala
GUJRANWALA: Fourteen people, including five girls, four women and five others, were killed over a property dispute in Pipli Goraya village here on Thursday.
Police officials said the Saifullah group and Javed group had a property dispute. The Javed group had murdered Ashiq, the father of Saifullah, and Zulfiqar, brother of Saifullah, four months ago while Javed was in jail.
On Thursday, Amjad, a brother of Javed, and his accomplices shot dead Saifullah and his gunman Usman. In retaliation, Gulfam, advocate, a brother of Saifullah, and his two accomplices attacked Amjad’s house. They killed 12 people of Javed’s family, including four women and five children, and three others and set the bodies on fire after dousing them with petrol.
The victims were Arshad bibi, w/o Ejaz, Maria, d/o Ejaz, Samra, d/o Ejaz, Farha, w/o Arshad, Khushi Muhammad, s/o Arshad, Abdullah, s/o Arshad, Tanzila, w/o Asif, Fajar and Hajra, d/o Asif, Abdullah, s/o Asif, Bushra, w/o Azam, and Mafia, d/o Azam. Injured Azam, Misbah, Basharat, Umar and others were rushed to the DHQ Hospital. The Saddar police claimed to have arrested Gulfam and his two accomplices. The property dispute has claimed 16 lives so far.
RPO Gujranwala Region DIG Ahmad said that both groups would be booked on murder charges. Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif has ordered an immediate probe into the killings. CPO Gujranwala Ehsan Tufail confirmed the arrest of Gulfam, advocate, and his two accomplices accused of killing 12 people. It merits a mention that the enmity started over possession of two shops at Pipli Goraya in Gujranwala Saddar police area.
