Karachi: Kidnapped baby boy recovered
KARACHI: The 10-month-old baby boy who had been kidnapped a few days ago in a Gulistan-i-Jauhar area was recovered in a raid in Machhar Colony on Thursday morning, the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) said.
According to the CPLC statement, Abdullah, son of Mohammad Fayyaz, was allegedly kidnapped by the watchman, Lal Karim, of the apartment building on Dec 25.
The case was reported to the Sharea Faisal police, who launched a probe.
With the assistance of capital city police officer of Peshawar, Lal Karim was arrested by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police in the Kohat Tunnel on Dec 28 when he was going to Mardan, the CPLC said.
The suspect was brought to Karachi and during interrogation he revealed that his brother Zubair Shah had handed over the child to a woman.
The police and CPLC officials raided a place in Machhar Colony on Thursday and recovered the baby, they added.
The alleged kidnappers had planned to make a ransom call from Mardan, they said.
