Lahore: Another life lost as dacoits strike
LAHORE: Two dacoits equipped with automatic firearms gunned down a 50-year-old man in broad daylight on offering resistance during a robbery bid in the Gowalmandi police limits on Thursday.
It may be noted here this is the fifth incident of this nature during the last 10 days. Around four people have been killed by hardened dacoits during the last week at different points of the City but police concerned have yet to trace the hideout of the criminals.
The victim was identified as Manzoor Hussain, a resident of Baghbanpura. Police investigators said that the man had withdrawn handsome amount from State Bank of Pakistan. He was going back to his house but when he reached near Macleod Road, two dacoits intercepted him and demanded for the cash. The man refused to give the cash over which one of the robbers opened fire on him and managed to flee from the scene after looting money. Resultantly, the man sustained multiple bullet injuries on his chest. He was taken to the Mayo Hospital where the doctors pronounced him as dead. The police after being informed reached the spot and shifted the body to the City morgue for autopsy.
