LAHORE: Gunmen shotdead a 45-year-old trader on MacleodRoad near Lakshami Chowk on Thursday, Gawalmandi police said. Victim ManzoorHusain of ShalimarLinkRoad was also injured in a robbery incident in 2005, according to his family. This time he was not so lucky.
Preliminary police investigation showed the gunmen on a motorcycle held Manzoor at gunpoint at 11am and ordered him to hand over cash to them.
When he resisted, suspectsopenedfire at him and escaped.
Policemen shifted the body to Mayo Hospital`s morgue.
A police official told Dawn that the victim, father of two and a cloth trader at Azam Cloth Market, suffered 10 bullets.
He said police found Rs12,000, a cell phone and a few business slips on him. Quoting the victim`s family, the official said Manzoor had Rs500,000 with him when he left the house in the morning.
He said inquiries with the family and relatives suggested that the victim had lent Rs6 million to different people.
The official said a case of robbery with murder had been registered.
