Man killed, another injured in Islamabad
ISLAMABAD: A man was killed while another was injured in separate incidents here on Sunday.
In the first incident, an old pedestrian died after he was hit by a vehicle on Kurri Road.
According to police, a 70-year-old man carrying a bundle of grass on his head was crossing road located in the limits of Shahzad Town police station when an unidentified vehicle hit him and the driver managed to speed away. A passerby shifted the injured person to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) where doctors pronounced him dead.
Duty officer Sub-Inspector Shaukat told Dawn that the deceased was residing somewhere near Khana Bridge and was going home after cutting grass for the cattle. Police has decided to make announcements through mosques to find out the relatives of the deceased however the dead body was shifted to mortuary at Pims, he said.
In the second incident, 28-year-old pedestrian, Mubarak was severely injured after being hit by a car driven by Zia Gilani.
Injured person was shifted to Pims for treatment. According to hospital sources he was having a head injury. Duty officer ASI Azeem told Dawn that Zia was a journalist and he himself shifted the injured person to hospital immediately after accident. The injured belongs to Kaghan valley and his family members have been informed about the accident, he said.
