Remand of Wapda officers extended in Lahore
LAHORE: AN accountability court has extended 14-day physical remand of Farrakh Ali Shah, Chief Engineer, Manzoor Hussain, SDO, and Ghulam Shabbir, LS, employees of Lesco/Wapda, accused of misappropriating materials causing Rs4.87 million loss to the national exchequer.
On Tuesday, the NAB authorities produced the accused before the court and sought extension to their physical remand. At this, the court extended 14-day judicial remand of the accused, directing NAB to produce investigation report on January 17.
As per case details, NAB Punjab had initiated an inquiry which was subsequently upgraded to investigation against Ashiq Hussain Bhatti, Project Director, Farrukh Ali Shah, Chief Engineer, Manzoor Hussain, SDO, Ghulam Shabbir, LS and others on a complaint by Wapda in 2007. The investigation revealed that the accused, in connivance with one another, were involved in misappropriation of costly items worth Rs4.87 million from Wapda store which included LT & HT conductors through cutting/overwriting of store requisitions.
