Deputy Superintendent of Police Shah Jehan said the truck owner, Sher Afzal, resident of Anzari Nazimpur area had lodged a case with the Azakhel police two days ago that armed men snatched his truck loaded with rice from his driver. He said the rice owned by Mushtarka Lakki Marwat Goods firm in Okara was being transported to the market in Peshawar.
Sher Afzal informed the police that the truck was on its way to Peshawar from the Muqadas Rice Mills in Okara when unidentified persons snatched it. The police said there was contradiction in the statements of Sher Afzal and his son, Zard Ali, who was also the helper of the truck.
They said during the investigation both the accused confessed that they along with their accomplices Majid and Habibur Rehman had sold some of the rice in the open market in various areas. The police said they were raiding various areas for the arrest of other accused, as the arrested persons were members of an intra-provincial gang.
