Toba Tek Singh: Demo against police for not recovering girl
TOBA TEK SINGH: Scores villagers, including women, from Chak 284/JB staged a demonstration against the Sadr police for not recovering a kidnapped girl and arresting the kidnappers. The protesters gathered outside District Press Club and chanted slogans against the police. They demanded the DPO take action against responsible policemen.
Talking to newsmen, Mureedan Bibi, a widow, said that her daughter Musarrat Bibi went to fields on December 13 from where Arif and Rauf Masih kidnapped her at gunpoint and took away to an unknown place. She added that after repeated visits of the police station, the case was registered on December 24. The police neither arrested the accused nor recovered her daughter. She accused the SHO of pressurising her to reconcile with the accused. She demanded suspension of the SHO, arrest of the accused and recovery of her daughter at the earliest. Lumberdar Haji Abdul Ghafoor, Labour Qaumi Movement (LQM) Women Wing president Ms Sajida Perveen, Gojra LQM president Muhammad Shabbir, Rana Tariq Majeed, Tariq Mahmood and Rana Muhammad Mujahid were also present.
