Peshawar: Three alleged killers of Dr Jamal held
PESHAWAR: The political authorities of Khyber Agency and the Peshawar Police have arrested three members of the gang involved in the kidnapping of cardiologist Dr Said Jamal Hussain while the ringleader is said to have escaped to North Waziristan, sources told The News on Sunday.
Dr Said Jamal was kidnapped around two months back. The kidnappers killed him and threw his body in Manyakhel, Khyber Agency, on Saturday. Sources said that the three suspects, Shera Khan, Mohammad Rasool and Noor Ali were arrested in the kidnapping of the slain doctor. The sources said the ringleader, Amin, has, however, escaped to North Waziristan.
Meanwhile, a senior political administration official, wishing anonymity, told The News here on Sunday that they had conducted raids on several locations in Khyber Agency on a tip-off that Dr Jamal was detained there. But instead of Dr Jamal, two other persons kidnapped for ransom were recovered in these raids.
The official said a brother of the wanted man, Amin, had also been arrested while raids for the arrest of one Qari Abdullah were underway. Also, the political administration has withheld the incentives and privileges of Manyakhel sub-tribe of Kukikhel Afridis, in whose territory Dr Jamal’s body had been recovered. A search operation in the area was also in progress for more arrests.
