Peshawar: 4 persons arrested
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar district administration arrested four persons for causing unrest after officials of the city district government raided a poultry market to keep prices under check on Monday, an official handout said.
Ali Rehman, Nisar, Zahid, and Riaz were arrested and sent to the judicial lock up under section 16 of Maintenance of Public Ordinance for 15 days. They were acted against for creating ‘law and order situation’ as they ‘assembled to block the road’.
An official team, supervised by the DCO, raided the market to check the prices of poultry and verify news reports about chickens being sold at rates higher than the officially set price.
The raiding party found that the entire rate list had not been signed by the rationing controller. Instead, it was signed by the president of the poultry association in violation of an earlier decision reached between the administration and the association.
