Nowshera: Mian Rashid’s assassin reveals details after arrest

NOWSHERA: The police Tuesday claimed the mastermind of the assassination of Mian Rashid Hussain, the only son of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain, has been arrested in Karachi.

District Police Officer Nowshera Muhammad Hussain said the Karachi Police shared information about the arrest of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) operative, Abdul Qayyum alias Amir, in Karachi with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police.

The arrested militant during the investigation confessed that he had been the gunman of the slain TTP chief Baitullah Mahsud and was resident of Momak Karak in South Waziristan. He told the police that he had also planned the bombing of the house of the senior police officer Chaudhry Muhammad Aslam and also organised target killings of several policemen and anti-Taliban people in Karachi.



The DPO Nowshera added that an investigation team of Nowshera Police was sent to Sindh to question Abdul Qayyum. He informed that Abdul Qayyum, who was trained in militancy by Samiullah Punjabi in Tank and South Waziristan, claimed he killed the son of the provincial information minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain on the orders of the TTP leader Waliur Rehman. “The detained Abdul Qayyum said that after killing the minister’s son, they were told by Waliur Rehman to send a suicide bomber to target the venue in Pabbi town where fateha was being held for Mian Rashid Hussain to eliminate Mian Iftikhar Hussain and his other family members,” the DPO Nowshera added.

According to DPO Nowshera, Muhammad Hussain, Abdul Qayyum told the investigators that he was selected for the job of target killing by the TTP as he was a precise marksman.The DPO Nowshera added that Abdul Qayyum confessed responsibility for a number of target killings and planning of bomb attacks in Karachi and other parts of the country including the murder of the peace committee chairman in Tank district Haji Janan Miyani.
