Karachi: Bandit’ killed in encounter
KARACHI: A suspected bandit was killed in a shoot-out with the Boat Basin police on Wednesday, police said. They said that that an alleged bandit was busy looting a family after forcing them to stop their car in the Defence Housing Authority`s Khayaban-e-Sahil area. A police patrol reached the scene and challenged him. He fired at the police, who returned fire and killed the suspect on the spot, they added.
The suspected bandit was identified as Shabbir Ahmed, 32, and two TT pistols were also recovered from his possession, the police said, adding that he lived in Keamari and was wanted by the Keamari and Clifton police in several criminal cases.
A case (FIR 16/12) was registered on a complaint of Asif, a student and a resident of DHA Phase VI, at the Boat Basin police station.
The investigation officer of the case, Sub-Inspector Chaudhry Tariq Mehmood, said that the deceased had been arrested several times and his family had also disowned him over his criminal activities.
