Rawalpindi: Man hangs himself
RAWALPINDI: A man committed suicide while another attempted to kill himself here on Wednesday, police said.Haji Mohammad Riaz, 71, a resident of Waris Khan, was found hanging with a rope tied to the ceiling fan of his room by his son-in-law who had come to see him. The deceased lived alone as his two sons were settled abroad.
Quoting the victim’s son-in-law, the police said Mr Riaz was a heart patient and had been in distress over his prolonged ailment. This might have driven him to commit suicide. No suicide note was found from his room, the police said.
In another incident, Mohammad Jamil Sharif was brought to Benazir Bhutto Hospital in critical condition after he took an overdose of pills.
Police said Jamil had gone to the house of his in-laws in Westridge to talk to his angry wife who had left his house after quarreling with him over some domestic issue and was living with her parents.
When he failed to resolve the dispute, he attempted suicide by taking pills.
