Gujranwala: Murder of parents, 6 brothers, sisters; Man gets death on 8 counts
GUJRANWALA: Additional Sessions Judge Rana Nisar Ahmad on Thursday awarded death sentence on eight counts and Rs 1,600,000 fine to accused Afzal for killing eight members of his family.
The court acquitted three other accused Atif, Bilal and Sarfraz, giving them the benefit of the doubt. Atif, the owner of a medical store, had allegedly provided sleeping pills to Afzal, while the pistol of Bilal was used in the multiple murder case. The convict had confessed to killing his family, stating that his father was a gambler and his mother led an immoral life. The convict had shot dead his father Asghar Ali, mother Sajida, brothers Iqbal, Muzamil, Abid and Sajid and sisters Anam and Sanam after administering them sleeping pills in the Baghbanpura police limits on October 23, 2011.
In another murder case registered with the Civil Lines police, the same judge awarded death sentence and Rs 400,000 fine to Aftab. The prosecution said that the convict had gunned down his brother Falak Sher over a minor issue on March 28, 2011.
