Lahore: Bail granted to kidney transplant accused
LAHORE: Additional District and Sessions Judge Husnain Qadir Ghillon on Thursday granted bail to Khurshid Ahmed, an accused involved in illegal kidney transplant case. The court has granted bail to the accused on the submission of surety bond of Rs. 100,000. On Thursday, the counsel of the accused stated that his client was implicated in a fake case. He reiterated that his client was innocent and had nothing to do with this case.
The Prosecution submitted that accused Khurshid Ahmed along with co-accused Dr Mubashir and Dr Anees and others were running illegal business of organs transplantation. The said accused attempted to remove the kidney of the complainant but he managed to escape after hue and cry.
The Investigation Officer (IO) submitted a report before the court contending that accused Khurshid Ahmed was a schoolteacher who had rented the compound to his colleague Abdul Haq where Haq’s son named Dr Imran was running a clinic. The IO declared Khurshid Ahmed as innocent in his report.
After hearing the arguments of both parties, the judge has granted bail to the accused against furnishing bonds of Rs.100,000. According to case details, one Muhammad Riaz had got registered an FIR with North Cantt Police against Dr.Anees, Dr. Mubashir, Mushtaq Ahmed, Muhammad Imran, Sagher Younis, Nadeem Fiaz and Ali Akbar and others under Sections 334, 511, 109, 342 of Pakistan Penal Code. He said that on June 30 he met with Muhammad Younis, as he was so depressed owing to the poverty and told him that he needed money but he had no source of income. To that, Younis told him that he would take him to a house where he would be given handsome money if he was ready to transplant his kidney. He was taken to a home located at Street No 6 Block-A of Al-Faisal Town where he was directed to lie on stretcher, complainant added.
Then doctors told him that his kidney would be transplanted to one Abdullah, a foreigner, and he would be paid Rs.110,000. He then feared and raised hue and cry after which the residents of the area assembled on the spot. He said in the FIR that accused tried to transplant his kidney, therefore, legal action should be taken against them.
