Karachi: 4 agents detained for issuing fake CNICs
KARACHI: At least four agents were arrested in three different raids at the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) offices in Karachi on Friday. Anti-Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) of the Federal Investigation Agency carried out the raids. AHTC officials said the arrested agents were issuing fake Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) to the citizens. NADRA’s Awami Markaz, Nazimabad and Korangi offices were raided, where the suspects were taken into custody.
The arrested agents were Sher Dil Badshah, Tajuddin Moosani, Mujahid Hussain and Idrees Ahmed. AHTC officials further said the raids were conducted after receiving several complainants by citizens who were provided fake receipts of NADRA or CNICs by the agents.
Over 2,500 fake receipts were also recovered from the possession of suspects. The officials said NADRA officials would also be arrested if they were found guilty during the investigation.
