Karachi: 2 killed; woman burnt to death
KARACHI: A fruit seller was stabbed to death and a woman was burnt at her house in different parts of the city on Saturday. Besides, the bullet-riddled body of a man was recovered from Lyari. Rafiq, 32, was stabbed to death at his fruit stall near Shafiq Mor in Federal B. Industrial Area police limits.
Rafiq was unloading fruits at his stall from a delivery van when he indulged in an argument with the delivery people.
The arguement took a violent turn when unknown fruit delivery people picked out a dagger and stabbed Rafiq to death and fled.
The deceased was a resident of Godraan, North Karachi, and he was the only bread earner of his family. However, police were investigating the matter.
Ms Anum 26 was burnt to death in Sherpau Colony in Quaidabad police limits late Friday night.
When Anum’s husband Hyder Zaman returned to his house at around 11:20 pm on Friday after completing his duty as watchman at a garment factory in Landhi, he found her wife burnt and lying on the floor.
He immediately called the neighbours and took his wife to Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where the doctors asked him to take her to Civil Hospital’s Burns Ward. However, Anum expired during treatment at the CHK.
The police initially detained Zaman under suspicion and during investigation they called at his workplace whose staff told that Zaman had left the factory at about 11pm on Friday. However, police also recorded the statement of Anum before her death, who told that some youngsters had barged into her house and threw some chemical on her.
Police said that the couple had no enmity with anyone, however, they were ascertaining the facts to trace out the culprits. The couple that hailed from Hazara (Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa) had got married some 10 years before but they have no children.
Meanwhile, the bullet-riddled body of a man was recovered from near Niazi Chowk in Kalri police limits. The deceased, later identified as Nasir Baloch, 32, was a resident of Ahmed Shah Bukhari Road, Lyari.
He had left his home for work on Friday night when he was kidnapped by unknown culprits who tortured him to death and threw his body in the area. Police were investigating the matter.
