Karachi: Shia man shot dead
KARACHI: A Shia man was shot dead and another injured near UP Morr within the jurisdiction of New Karachi police station here on Friday.
Syed Mushtaq Hussain Zaidi, 50, son of Riyaz Hussain Zaidi, was going in his car along with his friend Kamran, son of Abdul Karim, when two armed men riding a motorcycle sprayed bullets on them near UP Morr, resultantly Mushtaq died on the spot, while Kamran sustained bullet injuries. The culprits fled after swift operation.
A police official said the victim was the resident of Block 12, FB Area and also the sympathy of Muttahida Qaumi Movement. He said the victim used to run a motorcycle showroom in North Karachi and police believed that sectarian issue was the motive behind the incident.
The victim was the father of two children and at the time of incident he was going home from showroom on his bike. The funeral prayer of the victim was held at Shuhda Karbala Imambargah Ancholi while angry people staged a protest demonstration against the killing and blocked the road.
All major markets and shops in the area were closed due to uncertainty. He was laid to rest at Wadi Hussain Graveyard. No case could be registered till filing the report.
