Lahore: Lawyers torture ASI on court premises
LAHORE: Some lawyers subjected an assistant sub inspector (ASI) to torture and beat him up with kicks and fists on premises of the Lahore High Court (LHC) when he came to the LHC to appear before Justice Sheikh Ahmed Farooq in a case filed by a lawyer against him.
Maj (r) Syed Abass Advocate had filed a petition in the Lahore High Court to take action against ASI Sabar of anti car-lifting staff of police who stopped him on Motorway tool plaza near Shadhra and impounded his car despite the fact that he had complete documents with him.
Justice Sheikh Ahmed Farooq summoned the ASI along with record but, before he had his point of view heard, he was grabbed by a group of lawyers outside the court. They beat him up with kicks and fists, leaving injury marks on his face as well as on other boy parts. Nobody came to rescue the police officials from the aggressive lawyers. During the case hearing, Justice Farooq asked the ASI under which law he had impounded the car of an advocate, rather than reprimanding the aggressive lawyers who let him go after they had tortured him up to their satisfaction.
