Lahore: Young life, pristine rickshaw lost to robbers
LAHORE: A teenage rickshaw driver was stabbed to death on offering resistance during a robbery attempt here in Sabzazar Area, police said on Monday.
The deceased, later identified as Muhammad Azam, a resident of Awan Town, was on his way on his new auto-rickshaw when two men posing as passengers stopped him in Sabzazar area. The robbers overpowered him as the youth offered resistance when they tried to snatch away his auto-rickshaw.
The robbers brutally stabbed the driver and fled away on the three-wheeler. The youth was later rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, where doctors pronounced him dead. The police reached the spot when the robbers escaped. The deceased was said to be the only bread-winner of his family.
The police have shifted the body to the morgue for an autopsy. Police sources claimed that two suspects had been arrested and were being interrogated. The police also registered the case on the complaint of father of the deceased.
