KOHAT: Security forces on Tuesday foiled an attempt to smuggle arms from Darra Adamkhel to Peshawar and arrested two carriers at Spina Thana checkpost.
Official sources said that the security forces stopped a Suzuki car (9040 Karachi) at Spina Thana and upon search found 40 pistols and hundreds of cartridges in it. Two carrier Zahoor and Ameer Khan were also taken into custody.
Meanwhile, district coordination officer Shahidullah Khan has banned display of arms and gathering of more than five persons in Kohat district in view of the upcoming chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
The ban would remain intact from Jan17 to 23 on gathering of more than five persons, walk-chalking, display of arms by civilians etc.
It is pertinent to mention that some sinister elements wrote controversial remarks on the wall of a seminary in Mustafa bazaar. The police party visited the site and removed the text with white spray.
The city police registered a complaint and have started investigation.
