Lahore: Man arrested as suicide attempt fails
LAHORE: Policemen immediately intervened and thwarted an attempt by an unemployed man who was about to set himself on fire outside the Lahore Press Club on Tuesday.
Eyewitnesses said that the man, identified as Muhammad Nazir, a resident of Jalalpur Bhattian, opened the petrol bottle and was about to throw fuel around his body when the policemen, who were on-guard outside Lahore Press Club, intervened and thwarted his attempt. The man told the police that he was disillusioned as he failed to get any work to feed his poor family. The policemen took him to the police station. Further investigations were underway.
It is interesting to mention here that as per the law, in case of failed suicide attempt, the accused is arrested and the police register a case against him.
