Karachi: Alleged extortionist killed in police encounter
KARACHI: Shah Latif police claimed to have killed an alleged extortionist of Lyari gangsters during a brief encounter on Saturday. According to police, two alleged extortionists, who went to one of the private contractor Rana Aklaq to collect Rs1 million extortion, opened gunshots over refusal, leaving Rana’s employee Saleem Jhokio injured. Following the gunshots, a patrolling party of Sukkan police rushed to the scene and tried to nab the culprits. The culprits opened fire on them.
The police also retaliated fire in which one of the extortionist Waseem Baloch alias Don was killed, while his other accomplice managed to flee. Police said the deceased belonged to Lyari gang and police had recovered a TT pistol and a snatched bike (KFF-2782) from the spot. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities and later moved to Edhi Morgue for identification. No case was registered till filing the report.
