ISLAMABAD: Sabzi Mandi Police on Monday foiled an attempted robbery and arrested two dacoits as they were trying to escape after snatching money from a trader in sector I-11.
According to police, Jehangir Abbassi was on his way to Sabzi Mandi, Islamabad, from Murree along with two companions. In Sector I-11 they were intercepted by armed men who deprived Abbassi of Rs 350,000 and injured the truck driver.
A team headed by Sabzi Mandi Police Station SHO Abid Ikram reached the spot and cordoned off the area. Later, another police patrol and staff from Islamabad Traffic Police also arrived to assist Sabzi Mandi Police.
Eventually, police managed to arrest two dacoits identified as Qaiser Mehmud and Asmatullah. They also recovered the stolen cash, a pistol and dagger from their possession. Later, they were shifted to Sabzi Mandi Police Station for further investigation.
