QUETTA: A Police official, identified as Waqas Sarwar, involved in a car lifting incident has been detained. An operation has been launched in various parts of the city to arrest the other members of his group, said Nazir Ahmed Kurd DIG Operations Police here on Wednesday.
Addressing a media briefing, he said that the owner of the Alto car had made several complaints. Police investigation teams found the same car parked in the police line area. Further investigation revealed that the police personnel Waqas Sarwar had snatched the car on gunpoint and parked in the police line premises to change the number plates of the car.
To a question, the DIG said that it would be too early to disclose the names of the other members of his group. However, raids are being conducted to bring others to justice.
While giving details of police performance during the month, he said that 16 criminals involved in robberies, car lifting and other heinous crimes have been held. Besides, six wanted criminals were also arrested. Eleven stolen vehicles and four motorcycles had been recovered during the different raids conducted in parts of Quetta. Kurd said that no one is above the law.
