KHANEWAL: Khanewal Police Wednesday claimed to have busted 88 gangs of criminals and recovered booty worth Rs 280 million in 2011. Talking to journalists, Khanewal DPO Muhammad Waqar Abbasi said, “We have recovered stolen goods worth Rs 280 million.
Drug trafficking is one of the main menaces of our society and special instructions were given to all SHOs to launch a crackdown on drug sellers and in anti-drug campaign 908 cases were registered and huge quantity of drugs were seized and sellers were behind the bars.” He added 892 cases of illegal weapons were registered during the year and police had recovered four Kalashnikovs, 139 guns of 12-bore, 76 guns other, 571 pistols, 44 revolvers, 43 carbines, 10 knives and 3118 bullets. Police have arrested 2589 POs, 749 judicial absconders and two POs Fida Hussain alias Fida Ragh and Kamran alias Kami.
