Karachi: 72 killed during the week

KARACHI: Seventy-two persons lost their lives last week, of whom 17 were shot dead, 15 were murdered, 4 were burnt to death, one committed suicide, one drowned, 12 bodies were recovered and 22 died in accidents.

At least 896 robberies were committed in which 370 mobile phones, 87 cars and 178 motorcycles were snatched. People were robbed of valuables in 261 other cases of robberies. 225 of thefts were reported last week, in which 54 cars, 128 motorcycles were taken away from the different parts of the metropolis. According to the police data, 46 miscreants were arrested and 106 articles were recovered.

Reports of all the robberies, thefts, vehicle snatching and mobile phones snatching were confirmed by police.

PREVIOUS WEEK: Some 60 persons lost their lives during the previous week, of whom 11 were shot dead, 15 were murdered, three were burnt to death, two committed suicide, while 11 bodies were recovered and 18 were killed in accidents.

At least 1033 robberies were committed of which 450 pertained to mobile phones snatching/stealing, and 106 cars and 179 motorcycles were snatched. People were robbed of valuables 298 other incidents of robberies in all. Three-hundred-and-sixty-four cases of thefts were reported, in which 118 cars, 173 motorcycles were taken away from the different parts of the metropolis.

According to the police data 40 miscreants were arrested and 91 articles were recovered. Reports of all the robberies, thefts, vehicle snatching, and snatching/stealing of mobile phones were confirmed by police.
