Lahore: Robbers injure seven citizens on resistance in a week
LAHORE: Robbers shot at and injured seven citizens on offering resistance during robbery bids and deprived over 150 others of cash, gold ornaments, valuables, cell phones, cars and motorbikes worth millions of rupees during the last one week.
Out of the total reported incidents related to crime against property, around 30 motorbikes and 25 cars were also taken away.
Robbers robbed one Yasin in Raiwind City police limits and shot at and injured him on offering resistance. Police have registered a case with no clue of robbers so far. In another incident, robbers looted two passersby and subjected them to severe torture on offering resistance in Manga Mandi police precincts. Police as usual reached the scene late when the robbers had managed to escape from the scene.
In yet another incident, Mubarak Ali was shot at and injured by the robbers in Johar Town police area. Police have so far failed to nab accused. Separately, Riaz Ahmad was left injured by robbers when he offering them resistance in Wahdat Colony limits. One Amjad was shot at and injured by robbers in Shadbagh police area. A citizen named Abrar was injured by robbers on offering resistance during a robbery bid in the Factory Area police limits.
Overall Iqbal Town Division proved to be a safe haven for robbers and was calculated on top in the incidents related to crime against property as around 30 such incidents were reported during the last one week. Out of the total reported incidents, 8 motorbikes and 2 cars were taken away.
Model Town Division remained second with 27 reported incidents out of which 6 motorcycles and 7 cars were also stolen or snatched. The arrest of a youth, who was struggling to collect blood for his old father, over a petty issue in Shadman was also a ‘credit’ of the police which had later claimed the life of his father due to the delay in the transfusion of blood.
City Division was calculated on third number with 25 reported incidents out of which 6 motorcycles and 2 cars were also stolen or snatched.
Saddar Division was calculated on fourth number with 23 reported incidents out of which tow motorbikes and 5 cars were also taken away. Robbers also left four citizens, as mentioned above, injured on offering resistance.
Five robbers committed a successful bank robbery in Johar Town police limits which was the first bank robbery reported in the New Year 2012. Now police are trying to implicate the bank manager, suspecting his role in the robbery. However, nothing concrete could be found so far. It is amazing to note that CCPO Lahore Ahmad Raza Tahir, responding to the query of a reporter during a press conference, had said that the robbers involved in bank robberies were in a large number. So it was not easy to arrest them so easily.
However, helpless commanders of the Lahore Police, who used to repent over the shortage of resources, had successfully constructed a rest house for police officers at a cost of over Rs7.5 million to national exchequer.
Moreover, Cantt Division Police was calculated on fifth number with 20 reported incidents of crime against property out of which 3 motorcycles and 4 cars were also stolen or snatched. Civil Lines Division remained at the last position with 15 reported incidents out of which 3 motorcycles and 3 cars were also stolen or snatched.
