Lahore: Trader kidnapped for ransom recovered

LAHORE: Police on Sunday recovered the trader who was kidnapped for ransom on Saturday. CCPO Ahmed Raza Tahir said this in a press conference at his office.

 

Operations DIG Ghulam Mahmood Dogar, Investigations DIG Ali Amir Malik, Operations SSP Sarfraz Falki, Investigations SSP Abdul Razaq Cheema, CIA SP Omer Virk, Sadar Division SP Shoaib Khurram Janbaz, Cantt SP Hashmat Kamal, Chung ASP Jehanzaib Khan, Nawab Town SHO Tahir Ikram, Township SHO Rashid Ameen Butt and Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate SHO were also present on the occasion.



Addressing the press conference, the CCPO said that Lahore police had recovered a trader named Feroze Hassan Khan early on Sunday, 14 hours after he was abducted on Saturday from Alipur Road at gunpoint in the Nawab Town police area.

The CCPO claimed that five kidnappers had abducted him along with his car (LEJ/2061) and headed towards Islamabad on motorways. “However, due to timely cooperation by security agencies and a motorways officer, the police rounded up the vehicle near Salt Range Interchange but the accused fled the scene,” he added.

SP Umar Virk said that he was present on that occasion when the kidnap victim was recovered. DIG Ghulam Mahmood Dogar said he personally supervised the entire operation whereas the Sadar SP said that he himself drove the car to chase the culprits. Umer Rasheed, a friend of the kidnapped man, mentioned that SP Hashmat Kamal and ASP Jehanzaib that they had also helped in tracing the culprits. He also complained that a tracking company had mislead them during the operation as they blatantly lied by saying that the car carrying the kidnapped person was jammed. The CCPO has announced cash prizes and commendatory certificates for the police teams.
