DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The police here Sunday claimed to have arrested several suspected persons after Saturday’s clash in which one cop and a terrorist were killed.
Talking to reporters, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Dera Ismail Khan Range, Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah said that the terrorist killed in Saturday’s incident was identified as Imran Gandapur, who was wanted to the law-enforcement agencies in cases of murder, kidnapping for ransom, sectarian violence, terror activities and attacks on DPO’s office and police stations in the district.
He said the slain terrorist had joined the police force where he got proper training and later deserted it and got involved in illegal activities. He said the police launched search operation in various parts of the district and arrested several suspects on suspicion of their involvement in the Qurtaba School and College incident.
He said the slain cop Muhammad Jehangir Khan was laid to rest with state honours amid tight security in his ancestral graveyard in Qaziwala. He said a case had been registered against four other accomplices of Imran Gandapur who were involved in the attack.
