KARACHI: A man was shot dead near the People’s Stadium on Mauripur Road in the small hours of Wednesday, police said. They said that the killing took place at around 2.30am near the People’s Stadium within the remit of the Kalri police station. The police said that some armed men intercepted Tahir Hussain, 25, when he was headed towards the fisheries for work and shot him dead.
They said that it was not clear whether the armed men were on foot or riding a motorcycle.
The victim suffered bullet wounds and was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi, where he died.
Kalri SHO Safdar Mashwani said that the victim was a resident of Agra Taj Colony, Lyari, and lived with some bachelors.
He said the victim originally hailed from Dir in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
A case (FIR 21/2012) was registered under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code against unidentified men on a complaint of the victim’s brother-in-law, Hazrat Shah, at the Kalri police station.
