ASI, girl killed in gunfire in Karachi
KARACHI: An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) and a 19-year-old girl were shot dead by unidentified bandits after robbing a steel shop at Miran Naka within the jurisdiction of Shershah police station here on Saturday.
Two bandits were also shot at and injured in the counter attack by the ASI. Forty six-year-old ASI Rahim Ullah was associated with an intelligence wing and lately deployed at Shershah police station. He was out for official purpose when locals of Miran Naka complained regarding some dacoits robbing a steel shop.
The officer deferred his official work and proceeded towards the shop where the bandits sprayed him with bullets when he ordered them to surrender. A teenaged girl, Rida Munir who was standing near the crime scene also sustained injuries in the fire and died on the spot. DIG West Imran Yaqoob Minhas informed that the ASI, who was in plain clothes at the time of incident managed to shoot and injure two of the bandits, however, they still managed to flee.
