Bandits rule the roost in Okara
OKARA: Bandits have deprived dozens of citizens of their valuables and cash in separate incidents here.
In the first incident, three armed persons stolen thousands of rupees, mobile and motorcycle. The resident of 40/GD, Munir Ahmad, was going to Gogera on his bike. Near 40/GD, the accused Kamran, Mazhar Iqbal and Mohammad Mushtaq accosted him at gunpoint and snatched thousands of rupees, motorcycle and mobile phone.
In the second incident, having barged into a house, eight armed men looted hundreds of thousands of rupees. Syed Iqbal of Mohalla Chaman Pir filed an application that he was asleep in his house when all of a sudden the unknown dacoits entered his house. At gunpoint they looted 4 tolas of gold ornaments, 25 tolas of silver and a cash money of Rs.265000.
In the third incident, armed dacoits looted a passenger wagon. Near Hansaanwala Mour, a van (157/LRP) going from Depalpur, 7 armed bandits accosted it. Persecuting the driver Maqbool Husan, the robbers snatched Rs. 75000 and 15 mobiles.
In the fourth incident, three armed persons injured a constable with the repeated bat of rifle. ASI Tariq Perveez and constable Abdur Rehman were stationed at picket No. 576/C. meanwhile 3 armed persons were going on foot. On having them stopped one of the criminal hit the Butt of the weapon and injured constable Abdur Rehman. Police have started inquiry of the incident.
In the fifth incident, 7 persons tied the servant and took away a buffalo worth Rs 100,000. Maqbool Ahmad Syedin Colony submitted an application that his servant was asleep in his cattle pen, when the armed allegedly Liaqat, Naveed Ashiq and 4 unknown persons came equipped with weapons and took away the buffalo.
Eid Miladun Nabi preparations pick up: The preparations to celebrate Eid Miladun Nabi (the birth anniversary of Holy Prophet Muhammad PBUH) with great religious zeal and fervour on February 5, have picked up.
While faithfuls have decorated mosques, children are seen enthusiastically decorating streets and houses with colourful bunting and lights.
Arrangements to hold processions on 12th Rabiul Awwal, the birth anniversary of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), which falls on Sunday, have also been finalized. The main procession will be held under the aegis of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat and Labaik Ya Rasullalh Tehreek. The procession will start from the shrine of Hazrat Daud Bandgi Kirmani and culminate at the Jamia Mosque where a prize distribution ceremony will be held to appreciate best Na’at Khawns, speakers and stage organizers of the event.
