Rawalpindi: ‘Terrorist’ detained from milad procession
RAWALPINDI: An alleged security guard was detained by the police and law-enforcement agencies from central procession of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) on Sunday.
The central procession in connection with birth anniversary of Holy Prophet (PBUH) was carried out from Markazi Jamia Masjid.
It was led by religious scholar Pir Naqeeb-ur-Rehman and others who stressed the importance of congregations in connection with the Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH). Pir Naqeeb-ur-Rehman opened the procession by offering prayer for the safety of the participants and the country. Participants kept on joining the central milad procession reciting Naat and Darood. During the procession, the linking streets were closed, whereas a large number of personnel were deployed in plain clothes to maintain security and to avert any untoward incident.
At the start of the central milad procession, the special branch officials present at the scene detained a suspicious person dressed in security guard uniform and recovered two pistols from his possession.
