Men gunned down in Karachi
KARACHI: Two men were gunned down on suspicion of harassing women in the city during the last 48 hours. Also, a security guard was killed for helping a girl escape from her home town.
Inayatur Rehman was gunned down in Block-C of Gulshan-i-Ghazi, Baldia. Police said that Rehman, a resident of Gulshan-i-Ghazi, received a call on his cell phone from his neighbour, who asked Rehman to meet him outside the house.
As soon as Rehman stepped outside, he was fired upon by. He died while being rushed to hospital. Rehman received multiple bullet wounds to various parts of his body.
Station House Officer Nasir Mehmood of the Mochko police station said that they had taken his cell phone into custody to review his call logs. When they called back the last person to have spoken to Rehman, the phone was answered by Rehman’s neighbour, Sabir.
Sabir reportedly refused to cooperate with the police, forcing them to call a raid on his house and arrest him.
During investigation, the suspect disclosed that he had a suspicion that Rehman would tease the women of his house. He claimed to have personally witnessed this behaviour several times, and that on Sunday night, he called Rehman outside his house to kill him.
SHO Mehmood claimed Rehman was a criminal, and that he had been arrested by the district South Police on charges of robbery. He had been on bail at the time of his murder.
In another incident, a man by the name of Abdul Majeed Baloch was shot dead on Monday morning near the Gram Chasma Hill in Manghopir.
During investigations, it came to light that Majeed, a resident of the area, was unemployed and would sit at the top of the Gram Chasma Hill most of the time. A number of residents had objected to this behaviour, as they suspected Majeed of their women.
He was sitting at his usual spot on the hill on Monday morning, when unidentified men approached him and started firing indiscriminately. Majeed lost his life on the spot. The suspects fled immediately after. In a separate incident, Saeedullah, 63, was shot dead near Football Ground, Patel Para, in the Jamshed Quarters area. Police officials say that Saeedullah, who was a resident of Jamshed Quarters, was present outside his house late on Sunday night, when armed motorcyclists drove by and opened fire on him. Saeedullah was killed on the spot, while the suspects managed to flee.
Saeedullah hailed from Kala Dhaka in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK). He received two bullet wounds from a TT pistol to different parts of his body. According to his family, he had an enmity originating from his hometown.
Meanwhile, a security guard, Hamayun Khan, 32, was killed on Sunday afternoon on Defence View Road, Baloch Colony.
Police officials say that the Khan was working for the Bangash Security Company, and that he had been deputed to a house situated in DHA Phase-II.
On Sunday afternoon, he had left his house to make some menial purchases. As he reached Defence View Road, armed motorcyclists sprayed him with bullets and fled. The injured was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead. He received three bullet wounds to various parts of his body.
SHO Aslam of the Baloch Colony police station said that Hamayun Khan hailed from Naushero Feroze in Sindh, and that a few months ago he had been involved in helping a girl escape from her hometown, which had sparked an enmity between Khan and the girl’s family.
He added that it “seems that the same tribesmen had killed Hamayun Khan, but we are not ruling out other possible motives”.
