Lahore: Double Shah’s brother jailed
LAHORE: Accountability Court Judge Mian Mureed Hussain on Monday awarded six-year vigorous jail term to Syed Zameer-ul-Hassan Gilani, brother and co-accused of Double Shah, on charges of embezzling Rs 50 million.
The court has also fined the convict Rs 50 million. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Punjab chapter, had authorised investigation against Syed Sibtul Hassan Gilani alias Double Shah and others, including the abovementioned convict, on charges of cheating public at large, parallel banking and criminal breach of trust.
On Monday, Syed Zameed confessed to his crime after which the court convicted him. MPA’s plea against ex-husband adjourned: Family Court Judge Muhammad Ali on Monday fixed February 23 for reconciliation on a suit filed by PML-N MPA Deeba Mirza against her ex-husband seeking recovery of dowry amount, articles and maintenance allowance.
Previously, the court had directed Deeba’s ex-husband Mirza Abdul Waheed Baig to submit his reply in this regard. On Monday, the respondent submitted that dowry amount of Rs 100,000 had been paid. He stated that he had been living in Deeba’s house after marriage and all the dowry articles were in her house.
He said that he was living from hand to mouth in a rented house and could not pay maintenance allowance to his son and ex-wife. On this, the court has fixed February 23 for reconciliation.
Deeba Mirza had filed a suit for recovery of dowry amount of Rs 100,000 and for the recovery of dowry articles, otherwise Rs 273,000 as cost of dowry articles in alternative. She also prayed to the court to direct Abdul Waheed to give maintenance allowance of her and their child.
