Clerics booked for clashes on Eid Miladun Nabi in Mansehra
MANSEHRA: Police booked clerics of the two sects for Eid Miladun Nabi clashes that left one person dead and 10 others injured, police sources said.
The sources said that the first information report (FIR) was registered by the Station House Officer of the City police Mohammad Khursheed Tanoli after consultative meetings with district coordination officer, district police officer and representatives of other law-enforcement agencies on Monday.
In the FIR, the SHO stated that leaders of the both groups delivered speeches against each other and instigated the people to attack the rival side on the Karakoram Highway. According to the FIR one of the groups blocked the highway for over eight hours causing inconvenience to the people at Ghazikot.
Maulana Faizul Bari, Maulana Abdul Mannan, Maulana Shafiqur Rehman and Maulana Aftab of the Sunehri Mosque group were booked under Sections 341, 427, 147 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
From the rival side, Umar Farooq Saeedi, Saleem Qadri, Maulana Habibul Malik, Maulana Qudratullah Qadri, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Salkheen, Nazar Shah and Mohammad Altaf were booked under Sections 341, 147, and 149 of the PPC. No arrest had been made thus far.
Meanwhile, the Mansehra DCO imposed ban on the use of loudspeakers except for Azan and Friday sermons in Mansehra.A man was killed and 10 others sustained injures in the exchange of fire between the two groups on Eid Miladun Nabi.
