Policeman shot dead in Karachi
KARACHI: A policeman was shot dead in Defence View’s Ghani Market within the remit of the Baloch Colony police station on Sunday.
The police said Humayun Khan, 32, was a resident of Mehmoodabad No 6. He was going to a teashop near his home in Ghani Market when he was shot dead by armed men said to be on a motorcycle.
The police said that after suffering a gunshot, the victim fell to the ground, and the suspects fired repeated shots before fleeing.
The victim was rushed to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Baloch Colony SHO Aslam Khakrani said the victim was a supervisor in a private security company and hailed from Naushahro Feroz. He added that the victim had contracted a freewill marriage two years back and had since been living in the city.
He said the victim’s brother was posted in the Naushahro Feroz police and his family members believed the freewill marriage could be the most likely motive for the murder.
