Rawalpindi: Khurram remanded in another fraud case
RAWALPINDI: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) was granted three-day physical remand of Mian Khurram Rasool, former media coordinator to the prime minister, on Wednesday by an area magistrate in another fraud case of about Rs 1 million.
A new first information report (FIR), 06/2012, was filed against Mian Khurran Rasool on the complaint of a citizen Agha Mujeeb Ahmed on 7/2/2012 under sections 406, 420, 468, 471 and 109 of Pakistan Penal Court (PPCr) with 6 Passport Act.
The complainant in his application told FIA that he along with other 8 persons gave Khurram Rasool Rs 9, 45000 (Rs 10, 5000 each) and passports for sending them to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj. However, later Khurram confiscated the passports of all nine persons and did not send them on Hajj. Mian Khurram Rasool denied the allegation leveled against him saying saying he did not take money of get passports from these persons for sending them on Hajj.
Earlier, FIA Investigation Officer (IO) Khalid Sullahudin filed a plea in the court of area magistrate Sheikh Habib Ullah and demanded a seven-day physical remand of Khurram Rasool for further investigation into the matter. He apprised the court that the passports and amount was allegedly in the possession of the accused which is to be recovered. But the court granted a three-day remand and directed the FIA to submit all relevant documents regarding the case. The court also ordered the FIA to produce Khurram on 10 February 2012 before the court for further proceedings.
